Who We Are
The ASMEC is the independent regulator of financial services conducted in or from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), a purpose-built financial free zone located in Dubai, UAE.
ASMEC’s mission is to promote a secure, transparent, and efficient financial environment while maintaining global regulatory alignment. We operate independently from all market participants and government entities to ensure integrity and confidence in Dubai’s financial system.
Regulatory Mandate
ASMEC’s comprehensive regulatory mandate covers a wide range of financial and ancillary services, including:
- Asset management
- Banking and credit services
- Securities and capital markets
- Collective investment funds
- Custody and trust services
- Commodities and futures trading
- Islamic finance
- Insurance and reinsurance
- International equities exchanges
- International commodities derivatives exchanges
In addition to regulating financial services, ASMEC supervises and enforces anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) requirements applicable within the DIFC. This includes working in close cooperation with the UAE Central Bank and other national and international authorities to protect the integrity of the global financial system.
