ASMEC - Alerts

Alerts

ASMEC issues alerts regarding scams and other potentially fraudulent practices that may harm investors and damage the reputation of the financial sector. These alerts are intended to educate and inform investors so that they can take action to protect themselves.

Only firms authorised and licensed by ASMEC can provide financial services in or from the financial centre. If you have concerns about a firm or individual claiming to offer financial or ancillary services, you should verify their authenticity before engaging with them.

If you are contacted by a firm or individual that falsely claims to be authorised or licensed by ASMEC, you should cease all dealings with them and report the matter through the official complaint process.

The alerts list categorises notices according to their type and highlights regulatory issues that are of public interest.

Unauthorised

A firm or an associated individual which, based on available information, may have been wrongly perceived as licensed or authorised by ASMEC.

Clone

A firm or individual (not licensed or authorised by ASMEC) who:

  • impersonates, or claims to be approved by, another authorised firm; and
  • claims to be authorised by ASMEC.

Names in this category are followed by the word “(Clone)”. If your name appears on this list without that notation and you believe you have been cloned, you should immediately inform ASMEC.

Regulator or Authority Impersonation

A firm or individual impersonates or acts as a regulator, such as ASMEC or its representatives, or any related authority or their officials.

Clarification

ASMEC provides clarification regarding public information, such as confirming the regulatory status of a firm or addressing misinterpretations related to enforcement outcomes or legal judgments.
